Pressure

Interpretation

Pressure trend is still building from recent samples. Current pressure is available, but there needs to be more readings before it can be interpreted.

Pressure is only one signal. Wind, tide, solunar timing, water movement, and local structure still matter.

Recent readings build the pressure trend used for interpretation.

Reading the wind

Wind direction and strength can affect comfort, casting, and exposure around this location.

Wind gusts can be stronger than the average wind speed, so it's worth checking the gust forecast if you're planning to fish from an exposed location or need to know about potential changes in conditions.

Even modest wind can affect comfort and casting, especially where the water is exposed.

The marker shows the current wind direction, while the daily outlook below shows whether conditions are likely to build or ease over the coming days.

Marine interpretation

Wave: low Water: cold

Marine observations point to a reasonably fishable sea state.

Marine caution

Even lower wave conditions can vary depending on wind and local water movement. Forecast wave heights are averages rather than peak conditions. Individual waves may exceed the forecast height at times. Wind and local chop can quickly affect comfort and control. Wave period around 9.05 s can influence how conditions feel on the water. Conditions in open water can change quickly, so keep checking throughout the session.

Water temperature

Water temperature is around 13.4 C, making immersion a more significant factor to plan for. Cool or cold water can affect grip, coordination, and swimming ability. Wind and rough water can increase the impact of an accidental immersion.

Check local marine warnings, ramps, vessel limits and current conditions before heading out.

Wyndham Harbour Fishing

Wyndham Harbour is a Port Phillip Bay fishing location at Werribee South, about 28 km from Melbourne, with a rock wall, marina setting and nearby beach water. The rock wall has been a key land-based option because it lets anglers reach deeper water and structure, although access has changed, with extensive fencing reported around parts of the wall.

Access around the marina is limited, and anglers may be asked to leave the boat access section after a certain time at night. A more practical approach is to reach the rock wall from the southern side via the main road rather than entering through the marina area.

The fishing value here comes from the mix of bay depth, rock wall structure and adjacent sandbar country. Casting southeast from the wall puts baits or lures into Port Phillip Bay water, where flathead are a regular target and pinky snapper can be worth considering through spring, summer and autumn. From the beach near Wyndham Harbour, deeper holes between sandbars are worth identifying before fishing, especially where the bottom changes create holding water. Summer can be busy, so expect more pressure from shore anglers, small boats and kayaks when conditions are calm.

Fishing the rock wall, the practical challenge is keeping bait clear of the structure while still fishing close enough to benefit from it. A paternoster rig is useful for bait fishing because it can hold the bait above the rocks and reduce time spent dragging through snags. Berley is a worthwhile part of the approach here when bait fishing, particularly if other anglers are present and fish need to be drawn into the area. Beach fishing should be more mobile: look for darker, deeper patches between sandbars and adjust casting distance rather than sitting on uniform shallow water.

If fishing the beach, a rod around 10 feet is suitable, with lighter gear preferred unless wind or a larger target requires extra casting weight. Small boats and kayaks can fish just off the shore when the bay is settled, but onshore wind is a serious consideration. Westerly wind can build chop quickly and make the return to land difficult for small craft. Shore anglers also need to respect local residents and other users: take home all rubbish, cigarette butts and discarded line, and keep rods and gear clear of walkways.

Can Getfished tell if fish are biting at Wyndham Harbour, today?

No. Because a forecast cannot truthfully guarantee whether fish are biting at a specific spot right now. Getfished shows the current fishing conditions instead: tide movement, solunar timing, weather, wind, pressure, marine conditions and fising report, derived, species history.

Use this information to make informed decisions about where to fish, and to compare conditions across nearby locations. We hope you enjoy using Getfished to find your next great fishing spot!

🛈 Getfished Reporting Summaries Source

Fishing report summaries are derived from Getfished’s structured fishing report database system. More information on this on how we collect and structure fishing report data can be found on our Fishing reports information.

Forecasts are based on the Getfished Meteorological and Solunar Forecasting System, which combines data from the BOM, and other sources. Our custom software systems use these inputs to establish solunar, tides and other forecasts for fishing conditions.
