Pressure
Pressure is most useful when it shows movement. A stable, rising, or falling trend can add context to the rest of today’s fishing forecast.

Interpretation
Pressure trend is still building from recent samples. Current pressure is available, but there needs to be more readings before it can be interpreted.
Pressure is only one signal. Wind, tide, solunar timing, water movement, and local structure still matter.
Recent readings build the pressure trend used for interpretation.
Wind
Wind direction and strength can change how exposed a location feels, especially around open water, beaches, piers, and headlands.

Reading the wind
Wind direction and strength can affect comfort, casting, and exposure around this location.
Wind gusts can be stronger than the average wind speed, so it's worth checking the gust forecast if you're planning to fish from an exposed location or need to know about potential changes in conditions.
Even modest wind can affect comfort and casting, especially where the water is exposed.
The marker shows the current wind direction, while the daily outlook below shows whether conditions are likely to build or ease over the coming days.

Marine forecasts are guidance only. Conditions can change quickly on exposed water.

Marine interpretation
Wave readings indicate conditions that should remain manageable for many anglers.
Marine caution
Even lower wave conditions can vary depending on wind and local water movement. Forecast wave heights are averages rather than peak conditions. Individual waves may exceed the forecast height at times. Wind and local chop can quickly affect comfort and control. Wave period around 5.80 s can influence how conditions feel on the water. Conditions in open water can change quickly, so keep checking throughout the session.
Water temperature
Water temperature is around 13.7 C, making immersion a more significant factor to plan for. Cool or cold water can affect grip, coordination, and swimming ability. Wind and rough water can increase the impact of an accidental immersion.
Check local marine warnings, ramps, vessel limits and current conditions before heading out.

Warneet Pier sits on the northern end of Western Port, reached from Rutherford Parade with reasonable car parking, public toilets and a barbecue area nearby. The pier is long but narrow, so anglers need to be considerate with rod placement and casting space. It fishes over very shallow water by Western Port standards, with about 1 to 4 metres available on a high tide. The surrounding shoreline includes mangroves, sand, mud and weed patches, and warmer months can bring persistent sandflies and mosquitoes.
Tide is a major factor here. At low water, the area can drain heavily enough to expose sand and mud flats, leaving the main channel as the key water to concentrate on. The channel can be read by the line of moored boats and buoys, and it is worth checking which way the tide is pushing before setting up. The last few hours of the incoming tide are useful as fish move with rising water. The first part of the outgoing tide can also fish well as food drains back off the flats towards the channel.
The pier pylons, mooring blocks, weed edges, sand patches and channel edge are the main structure to work. Silver trevally can sit close to the pylons or mooring structure, while King George whiting are more a sand-and-weed-edge prospect around nearby channels and flats. Cast beside weed rather than into it, and if bait fishing slows, slowly rolling the bait back can add enough movement. Yellow eye mullet are a strong local target, especially when berley is used to keep a school feeding near the pier. Mulloway are a more specialised night option, with fresh or live bait such as locally caught mullet, salmon or squid the most location-relevant approach.
For mullet, a light-tipped rod around 8 ft with a small spinning reel and line no heavier than about 10 lb suits the style of fishing. A paternoster rig with a small bomb sinker up to 2 oz and size 8 to 10 hooks matches the small baits used for them. Trevally can be fished with similar baits, or with a single size 0 ball sinker near slack water. For mulloway, heavier main line around 30 lb, abrasion-resistant 40 to 80 lb leader and 4/0 to 7/0 hooks are better matched to the bait size, current and chance of larger fish.
No. Because a forecast cannot truthfully guarantee whether fish are biting at a specific spot right now. Getfished shows the current fishing conditions instead: tide movement, solunar timing, weather, wind, pressure, marine conditions and fising report, derived, species history.

Fishing report summaries are derived from Getfished’s structured fishing report database system. More information on this on how we collect and structure fishing report data can be found on our Fishing reports information.
Forecasts are based on the Getfished Meteorological and Solunar Forecasting System, which combines data from the BOM, and other sources. Our custom software systems use these inputs to establish solunar, tides and other forecasts for fishing conditions.
